The process of printing diverse styles and various patterns on Indian attires such as Sarees, SalwarKameez, ChaniyaCholi or LehengaCholi or Ghagracholi, etc is somewhat a latest one. Previous these costumes were either dyed as an entire stuff or the fabric was woven with dyed yarn in diverse designs &concepts. The expertise & creativity of each and individual weaver dogged the beauty that unfurled from these woven fabrics. In dyeing, colour is applied to nearly the entire fabric or at smallest a substantial piece of the fabric uniformly. In printing fabric, the process becomes a bit perplexing since the colour has to be enforced in an exact design or pattern & has to be taken care to restrict the spreading or smudging of shades which would then ruin the whole print of the design. Upon revising the history of fabric printing, one would reveal that even ages back there were rather a couple of printing methods & techniques, some of which have become obsolete now, &, of-course, with each transient day new & effective processes surface.

As the printing techniques & methods have undergone a gigantic change, so have the patterns & styles that are being printed. Earlier floral prints were, possibly, the only kind of patterns to be printed and was very common in old printing style. But now, whereas, floral patterns are still dominating, but geometric printing, abstract printing, animal print, or polka dots printing etc are carving a niche of their own. Not elaborate, feminine or ornate, these are very trendy,  modern and contemporary. The much dotted floral print sari or Printed SalwarKameez has now become quite commonplace or mundane & a thing of the past. For a chic & trendy appeal, women like the attires that flaunt eye-catching and attractive & unconventional geometric print or abstract prints or animal print etc. When fashioned out of fabrics boasting such trendy prints & enhanced with unique cuts, it actually does not take much to arrive out with immensely hip & trendy outfits.
